Position Title: Health & Community Support Volunteer

Reports To: Executive Director & Program Manager

Location: Federal Way, WA (Salaam House, community sites, and partner locations)

Hours: Flexible; 3–10 hours per week depending on availability

Compensation: Volunteer (non-paid)

About Rahma Recovery Center (RRC)

Rahma Recovery Center is a culturally responsive recovery program serving immigrant and underserved communities in South King County. RRC operates Salaam House, a WAQRR-accredited Level 2 sober living residence, and is partnering with Living Well Kent (LWK) to develop the first multicultural, multilingual Recovery Café designed to address recovery, health, wellness, and community connection.

RRC provides structured sober housing, life skills support, community service, agriculture therapy opportunities through the RRC & LWK farm, and public health outreach programs including Narcan education and overdose prevention.

Volunteer Purpose

The Health & Community Support Volunteer helps advance RRC’s mission by supporting client wellness, women’s recovery programming, and community engagement efforts. This role strengthens day-to-day operations, enhances culturally responsive care, and helps build the foundation for RRC’s future Recovery Café.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Wellness Support

(Non-clinical)

Assist residents with basic health check-ins (vitals, general wellbeing assessments).

Help track health appointments and encourage follow-through.

Create health education materials (nutrition, stress management, hygiene).

Support health workshops or group discussions.

Women’s Recovery Program Support

Assist with activity planning, wellness sessions, or journaling circles.

Help build culturally responsive programming for the women’s sober living home.

Support safe, confidential, and empowering environments for female clients.

Recovery Café Outreach & Community Engagement

Participate in Narcan distribution and overdose response outreach.

Support RRC tables at farmers markets, community events, and partner sites.

Help create public health and stigma-reduction materials for immigrant communities.

Program Operations & Administration

Assist with scheduling, filing, and organizing client materials.

Help manage volunteer communications and outreach.

Support event coordination and community partnerships.

(A HIPAA training will be provided before handling any sensitive information.)

Qualifications

Currently studying or trained in Public Health, global health, nursing, CNA, MA, phlebotomy, social services — or related fields.

Strong communication skills and compassion for marginalized communities.
