Hussein Ugas
Founder & Executive DirectorRahma Recovery Center grew from Hussein's own lived experience with addiction, mental-health struggles, justice-system involvement, and long-term recovery.
He founded Salaam House as Washington's first accredited Level II culturally responsive sober living home, and continues to lead RRC's growth across South King County — from House of Du'a to the upcoming South King County Recovery Café.

Rahma Rashid
Board PresidentRahma Rashid is the Founder and Executive Director of MAAC (Muslimahs Against Abuse Center), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and strengthening families through culturally responsive services. She brings extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, community advocacy, and organizational development. Her leadership and commitment to serving underserved communities provide strong guidance to Rahma Recovery Center's mission and long-term growth.
Abdullahi Jaranow, MA, LMHCA
Vice PresidentAbdullahi Jaranow is an Imam, Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, and behavioral health professional with extensive experience supporting individuals and families affected by mental health and substance use disorders. His unique combination of clinical expertise, faith-based leadership, and culturally responsive counseling strengthens Rahma Recovery Center's commitment to holistic, evidence-based, and compassionate recovery services.
Mohamed A. Mohamed
Board TreasurerMohamed A. Mohamed is a Certified Public Accountant and seasoned finance leader with over a decade of experience spanning internal audit, financial planning, and enterprise risk management across global corporations and mission-driven nonprofits. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of East African Community Services in Seattle, where he built the organization's financial infrastructure from the ground up, implemented rigorous internal controls, and achieved consecutive clean external audits — all while redirecting cost savings toward high-impact community programs. Prior to his nonprofit leadership role, Mohamed held senior finance and audit positions at Abbott Laboratories, The Toro Company, and UnitedHealth Group, where he led SOX compliance programs, managed cross-regional audit engagements spanning EMEA and Asia, and partnered with executive leadership on enterprise risk strategy.
Aaliya Hassan
SecretaryAaliya Hassan holds a bachelor's degree in Medical Anthropology, with a strong academic foundation in the social, cultural, and systemic factors that influence health and well-being. She is passionate about advancing health equity, strengthening community well-being, and connecting individuals and families with the resources they need to thrive. Her commitment to culturally responsive service and community advocacy brings valuable perspective to Rahma Recovery Center's mission and governance.
Patrick A. Vanzo
Board MemberPatrick A. Vanzo is a respected public health and human services executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, homelessness response, crisis intervention, and public administration. Throughout his career, he has led complex systems that improve access to care and strengthen community partnerships. His extensive experience in governance, strategic leadership, and public policy provides invaluable guidance to Rahma Recovery Center as it expands culturally responsive recovery services throughout South King County.
